The first thing to do on a hotel room to avoid bed bugs

The first thing you should do when you arrive at a hotel room is to inspect the room for signs of bed bugs. Signs of bed bugs are mainly small black or red spots from feces or blood, but they can also be empty shells that look like bed bugs, which are the bed bugs’ shed skins.
When you arrive at the hotel:
1. Place your luggage in the bathroom.
2. Inspect the bed:
- Check the sheets.
- Lift the mattress.
- Inspect around and under the headboard and bed frame.
- Also look for stains on all textiles belonging to the bed, such as bedspreads, pillows, bed skirts, etc.
3. Inspect areas near the bed:
- Check electrical outlets, baseboards, nightstands, and pictures near the bed.
4. If there are other surfaces where people can sleep or spend a lot of time, such as sofas and armchairs, inspect these as well to be on the safe side.
Bed bugs prefer to stay in or near the bed to be close to their food source. If you have thoroughly inspected the bed and nearby areas, you can feel confident that you have done everything you can to ensure that you have a room without bed bugs!
